Apart from the fabulous collections in the house, the Toy Museum contains a wonderful assortment of toys from bygone childhoods. They include toys played with by generations of Sidney children, while many belonged to Yootha Rose, stage designer, artist and Royal toymaker, and an avid collector of toys. Numerous others have been given or lent to Viscount De L'Isle since the Museum opened in 1970.

The displays form a veritable treasure trove of dolls, dolls' houses, teddies, soldiers, mechanical toys and general playthings, mostly from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, while some like the Georgian doll 'Moggie' and the Noah's Ark, made by Napoleonic prisoners of war, originate from an earlier age.
