Anne of a Thousand Days

Anne of a Thousand Days - Late Lord De L'Isle with Richard Burton

On location at Penshurst Place

Penshurst Place & Gardens in Kent provides a stunning location for film and photography.

The unique 14th century medieval Great Hall, together with the magnificent gardens and parkland estate, lend a beautiful authentic backdrop.

Penshurst Place has been the location for many films, TV series and advertising campaigns.

Over recent years, these have included:

Film based on the book by Philippa Gregory starring Scarlett Johannson, Eric Bana and Natalie Portman
(2008). Universal Studios.

MERLIN BBC Drama series starring Richard Wilson and Anthony Head. As Camelot Great Hall in first series (2008). Produced by Shine Ltd.

Shakespeare's HENRY V filmed for the BBC - part of their The Hollow Crown Shakespeare Unlocked series. Produced by Neal Street Productions (2012).

WALKING THROUGH HISTORY for Channel 4 - episode 3 - with Tony Robinson and Philippa Gregory. Produced by Wildfire TV (2013).

THE LAST DAYS OF ANNE BOLEYN. BBC2. Drama scenes. Oxford Films (2013).

And, sound recordists from the HARRY POTTER film series came and recorded the floor creaks in the Long Gallery at Penshurst Place, for their sound effects.

We have also had regular commercial and publicity photoshoots. Most recently for two editions of Country Life Magazine, photography by Will Pryce and Asiana Magazine. Full list here.

Due to the nature of the fabric of the building there are normally charges for any filming and photography, and full Public Liability insurance is required.

Prior permission should be sought if any commercial filming or photography is to take place on Penshurst Place property and land, including the estate properties in Penshurst village; Leicester Square, the Forge Stores and other estate land. This includes any images used to promote your company or goods and services. See our film & photography policy for more details.
